Watch former PS Bitange Ndemo open-up on how he had one week to find a wife

“I came from America and I had one week to travel back. My priority was to find a woman within that time and marry because the American culture seemed weird to me.

“I met a woman at the Kenyatta National Hospital Cafeteria, gave her a date that night and that is how I got my wife.

I was however warned that she consumes whole 750ml vodka by herself but I chose to stick by her.”

These are the words of Former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Communication Bitange Ndemo as he humorously shared the story of how he met his wife and how this led to a mind shift towards women, love and marriage.

Ndemo in a viral video on social media says while growing up as a teenager, they had devised various ways of seducing women but none of them seemed to work for him.

Ndemo was speaking to an audience in one of the Safaricom’s programmes dubbed ‘Engage’.

“We devised ways of seducing girls and I had just moved to Nairobi when I was a  teen. I decided to target a certain lady in the church. I went to a shop and bought Brut, the only spray I knew of then,” Ndemo divulged.

“I sprayed the whole can on myself and somehow squeezed myself among the congregants and sat next to her. I knew this was a perfect opportunity but unfortunately, the lady never recognised me.”

Ndemo said that day he felt rejected, dejected and disappointed. He went back home asking himself lots of questions as to what he might have done wrong for such humiliation.

This did not, however, deter his spirits. The following day he went to Nairobi Cinema at Uchumi house and spotted another target.

“I had borrowed a friend a motorbike, 175cc Honda, I strategically positioned myself for the target. She approached and asked her if she wanted a ride but she declined,” he narrates.

Ndemo says he recalls that many moviegoers would board their buses at the Kencom stage.

“I went around the building, fired up the motorbike and lifted the front wheel up. That stunt, however, did not go well. The wheel refused to come down and what followed next I found myself in First Bank of Chicago building just in the corner of Hilton Hotel,” he says.

Ndemo says the scenes of the girl he wanted so badly standing there and laughing at him are still so fresh.

He was later taken to hospital and later discharged before he got an opportunity to study in America.

After he left the hospital, Ndemo says he tried other theatrics but all hit a dead end.

In America, Ndemo says the world is totally opposite and here it is the women who make the move rather than the man.

“A classmate approached me that I should take her to the movies. While there I just wanted to be like my father so I wanted to pay but she said we should split the cost,” Ndemo narrates.

He says he struggled to understand because to him at that time he knew it is a man’s responsibility to be in control.

All said and done, Ndemo finished his undergraduate and started working for a firm as a financial systems analyst which was his first formal employment.

When he was given one week to rest, he decided to rush back home and get himself a wife.

He landed and went to see his brother who is a professor at the School of Medicine at KNH.

“I woke up the following day and went to see him but he was in a class, so I decided to have a snack at the cafeteria. I sat there just waiting and some two ladies walked in and asked if they could share my table and I agreed,” Ndemo said.

He continues, “As we started a conversation, I asked them what had brought them and they said they were students. They asked me the same question to which I responded. I am here looking for my brother. I want him to give me his car to go look for a woman I will marry,” he says.

In shock, the ladies asked him whether he was serious about what he just said and in affirmation he responded, “Yes I want to find a woman because I need to travel back to America.”

After a few minutes, one of them was answering his questions while the other was sceptical about his American bragging.

Luckily, Ndemo says someone distracted her and he was left for some time with the one who was responding to his questions.

“I said to myself,  I have gone through the theatrics of trying to find a woman and the only thing I did not do was speak up.  I told the girl I don’t need to get the car now, if you accept to marry me we can start the plans,” he says amid applause from the crowd.

Ndemo says what made him happy was the way the lady blushed and giggled.

When her colleague came back, Ndemo says they had to change the topic but luckily got a date that evening.

They met at the Forester Magnetica, where the new girl did not leave her friend behind.

“We had a chat and I was racing against time. So I convinced her that we had to go see her parents because days were moving very first,” he says that is how the journey to get a wife officially begun.

“The day before I travelled back to America, I met one of my relatives and told him about the girl and plan to marry her. He asked me about her and I described her to him. To my surprise, he said he knew her very well and that she would consume a whole bottle of 750ml of vodka by herself,” Ndemo said amid laughter from crowds.

“I looked at him but made my affirmation that I would stick with her despite all the shenanigans that followed,” he says.

He later organised so that she could travel to America but the Americans refused her a Visa and they had to use alternatives which were to secure a Canadian Visa.

She could then visit and they proceeded with their marriage plans and eventually got married.

At this point, Ndemo still insists he wanted to be a man, a true son of his father.

Ndemo recalls that one day he was sleeping in the couch, called his wife and asked her to give him the remote which was just on the table, she looked at him, held her waist and asked if that was really why he called her.

“She refused to give me the remote and demanded that I take it by myself. Well, I swallowed my pride because no one had seen me anyway,” Ndemo narrates.

One day they went to visit a sick friend and to his surprise, he witnessed his old friend get to the room, take a jacket and put it on his wife.

That he says changed his life to a new perspective of true love.

“I waited after two months and tried it on my wife and she was shocked, she thought I had gone mad but thanks to all that experience that has made me who I am today,” Ndemo says.

To him, he wanted to throw one more big surprise to her, which in their Kisii culture no man can dare do.

That was to kiss his wife in public. 30 years later, Ndemo says he is a happy husband.

‘On my 35th birthday Kabu bought me a Mercedes but did not publicize it.’ Sarah Kabu

The Kabu’s are one of the Kenyan couples that so many envy, some in a good way and others in a bad way.

Sarah Kabu has gotten the best out of having a very business-oriented man. Two years ago, Simon Kabu gifted his wife Sarah a brand new Range Rover worth Sh30million for her 39th birthday, making Nairobi women envious.

Simon Kabu,Sarah Kabu( Bonfire Adventures directors)
Simon Kabu,Sarah Kabu ( Bonfire Adventures directors)

According to Simon, his wife deserved a Range Rover and more since she had stood by him, furthermore, it was her dream car. He was showing his gratitude for standing by him when he was broke working as a conductor and now he is one of the richest men in Kenya.

Since then things have never been the same for the couple. Speaking about it during an interview in a Radio Interview recently, Sarah said,

“‘THAT CAR GIFT WAS ON MY 39TH BIRTHDAY

ON MY 35TH BIRTHDAY I WAS BOUGHT A MERCEDES BUT HE DID NOT PUBLICIZE IT.

AFTER PICKING IT FROM MOMBASA HE PUT IT IN THE PARKING WHEN I WOKE UP I FOUND IT THERE.

SO WE WERE WORKING TOWARDS GETTING A RANGE ROVER FOR MY 40TH BIRTHDAY.”

BUT MY HUSBAND KNEW IF HE BOUGHT IT AND BROUGHT IT HOME I WOULD SEE IT AND THAT IT WOULD NOT BE A SURPRISE ANYMORE.

I WAS SO MADLY IN LOVE WITH THE 2017/2018 MODEL.

SOMETIMES I WOULD GET STRANDED ADMIRING IT IN TRAFFIC.’

Sarah said that she had no clue he was going to surprise her with such a lavish gift on her birthday

‘I WOKE UP CAME TO THE OFFICE AND I KNEW WE MIGHT GO FOR DINNER TO A SPECIAL PLACE GIVEN WE WERE NOT TRAVELLING.

SOMETIMES I KEEP MY HAIR UNTIDY BUT THAT DAY HE INSISTED I GO TO THE SALON.

I WENT TO WORK AND AS MY SISTER AND I WERE GOING OUT FOR LUNCH MY HUSBAND OFFERED TO BUY US LUNCH.

During the lunch date, they were interrupted by motorcyclists walking in, singing happy birthday. That was such a happy moment, her legs went numb.

Simon and Sarah Kabu
Simon and Sarah Kabu having a nice time

Sarah is not the type to put her life in the public. She said if only she knew he was going to make her 39th birthday so dramatic, she would have stopped him.

The couple was however not ready for the challenges that came with their show of public display of affection.

‘AFTER THAT WE DID NOT KNOW THAT WOULD BE A PROBLEM.

NOW EVERY SLAY QUEEN TELLS HIM ‘OOH I WANT A VITZ.’

I HEARD PEOPLE WERE ASKING KWANI NAMPEA DESIGN GANI NDIO ANINUNULIE GARI.’

One of the challenges was having slay queens slide in the DMs of Simon. She revealed that they have the passwords to each others social media, and she found one disturbing DM during the New Year.

A certain slay queen wrote to Simon

‘HAPPY NEW YEAR,  MY GOAL IS TO GO OUT WITH YOU, PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Sarah says,

WE MEET SUCH DM’S EVERYDAY.’

Speaking about how it is like working with her husband on a daily basis, Sarah said,

‘IT’S NOT ALL LOVEY DOVEY AS PEOPLE ASSUME. WHEN WE GET TO THE OFFICE IT’S ALL WORK.

WE ARE USUALLY VERY BUSY.

THERE ARE DAYS WE ARE NOT IN TALKING TERMS BUT WHEN WE GET TO THE OFFICE MANAGEMENT DECISIONS HAVE TO BE MADE SO YOU HAVE TO TALK AND GIVE YOUR OPINIONS.

WE NEVER MIX PERSONAL ISSUES WITH BUSINESS. IF YOU FIND US GETTING MAD AT EACH OTHER THEN IT’S SOMETHING SERIOUS.’

The Bonfire Adventures boss had in a past social media post confessed that it took a lot of will for her not to fall for sponsors back in the day.

Sarah says,

AT 22 YEARS WHEN I STARTED WORKING AS AN INTERN AND MANAGED TO PAY FOR MY FIRST TRIP TO 14 FALLS THROUGH A CHURCH YOUTH GROUP.

Sarah adds that her values kept her in check.

I NEVER COMPROMISED MY VALUES DATING OLD DIRTY SPONSORS LIKE COLLEGE SLAY QUEENS DO NOWADAYS.

THEM DAYS THEY USED TO BE CALLED TUSHUNGWA NA SUGAR DADDY’S.

I USED TO SURVIVE ON ONE MEAL A DAY THAT IS DINNER BIG UGALI OR RICE.

DAY TIME SNACKS WERE MOSTLY SWEETS, BISCUITS, MANDAZI, CHAPATI AND BREAD...

‘I almost walked out on my husband as I didn’t like the house we lived in,’ Sarah Kabu on past marriage struggles

Bonfire Adventure co-founder Sarah Kabu says that she almost walked out on her husband Simon Kabu after she and he failed to agree on an important decision in their marriage.

The mother of two at the time wanted to move houses, she wanted her ‘dream house’ ASAP but her husband was hearing none of it.

She decided to scout for a new house alone

‘I almost moved out because I was tired of the house we lived in.

I wanted to move to our dream house but my husband was not up for it at the time.’

Sarah Kabu and her husband Simon Kabu

‘So I went and shopped for homes in Runda, Kitsuru and signed contracts to move.
I had decided to move out anipate mbele.’

Simon who was at the time the sober headed one decided to talk his wife out of that ‘ stupid’ decision something she is forever grateful for.

‘Finally, I was talked to and my husband asked me to get the best interior designer I could get to help me redo our house to my taste.’

Adding,

‘I had signed out all agreements but I was ready to move out with my son eventually I never moved out.
We were living on Kiambu road at the time.’

Sarah says that even when people see them slaying in social media they have marital issues like every other couple.

‘Even when you see us slaying we have issues. However, we may slay but We are not party animals.’

The couple is blessed with two kids.

Sarah has said it, there is no perfect relationship/marriage, pick Mr wrong drag him to the right.

Cliff Ombeta: I’ve been divorced five years now, I don’t want to be married again

Criminal Lawyer Cliff Ombeta has revealed that he has been divorced for five years and does not want to get married again.

Speaking to Jackson Biko of Business Daily Life, Mr Ombeta who is 49 years old said he has 18 and 15 years old children, but does not want to get into a permanent relationship.

Biko asked him: ” What will you regret when it all comes to an end? “

He paused and replied: “I honestly can’t think of anything, apart from perhaps my work keeps me away from my children. } {They are 18 and 15 years old}. But I’m trying to compensate now. I do daddy things; school runs … I’ve been divorced five years now. I have never wanted to get into any other permanent relationship because it means going through the same circle again.”

He however revealed that he has a Rwandan girlfriend.

“I don’t want to be married again. I also don’t want to have other children. I want to concentrate on the two I have. It’s also tricky dating now because you don’t know who is genuine, who wants you for Cliff the lawyer and not for me. Sometimes you end up pushing away genuine people. But I actually have a girlfriend from Rwanda,” he said.

Mr Ombeta attended Jamhuri High School, Highway Secondary School, Kamusinga Secondary School and Koelel High School, all which he was expelled.

“I’m not problematic, I just don’t like being bullied; you can’t punish me if you can’t prove it. I challenge dogma,” he says.

Hey November! 👋🏼. Today marks 1 year since I left my last job

Joey was at Citizen TV for three years, hosting shows like the Breakfast show and 10 over 10

She left because she was marketing a different betting brand while Royal Media Services (RMS) had its own betting brand.

In a Twitter post, Joey said it was easy leaving work.

She wrote: “Hey November! 👋🏼. Today marks 1 year since I left my last job. It was a very difficult decision. Yet God guided me to the place I am now. Today I am happy, content & know that I am loved. So thankful for the people who’ve stuck by me & encouraged me along the way. God bless ❤.”

See Uhuru’s photo a spitting image of Mzee Kenyatta

A photo of president Uhuru Kenyatta taken by Presidential Strategic Communication Unit that was later shared Twitter shows Uhuru looking like his father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.
In the photo, Uhuru looks to have added weight with one social media user saying it was because the country has no Opposition party that is stressing him.

Look at the photo below and say if they two look alike.

The rise and rise of designer wearing governors

There is no doubt that flamboyant Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is a man who is very particular about how he looks.
It is evident in his careful grooming and dressing — carefully-trimmed hair paired with a stylish beard cut and well-fitting immaculate clothes that even an unschooled eye can tell are pricey. Unless they are very good knock-offs that is.
Mr Joho seems to favour Versace and Dolce&Gabbana, both high-end Italian fashion brands, going by the many glamorous photos he has posted on his Instagram page. One of his shirts by Dolce&Gabbana described on the brand’s site as “Cotton Hawaiian Shirt with Tropical King Print”, costs 800 euros, approximately Sh92,000. He also has a Versace Gold Barocco print silk sweater, which goes for 862 dollars (Sh89,000).
The governor also owns a Versace Embroidered Medusa shirt, which costs around 550 euros (Sh63,000).
Two months ago in a popular video clip of the governor partying with American socialite Paris Hilton in the US, he wore a Versace Blue/Gold Heritage Print shirt that costs 450 pounds (Sh60,000).
Mr Joho is also a lover of designer sneakers. Of the many that he flaunts on Instagram, he owns a pair by luxury fashion house Dolce & Gabbana that costs 290 euros, about Sh34,000, enough to buy around 1,000 pairs of leather school shoes at Bata.
But Joho is not the only governor in Kenya with a taste for designer clothes.
A couple of weeks ago, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, who is known for his flashy dressing and love for over-the-top jewellery, was photographed wearing the Versace brand from head-to-toe on his way to the Kenya Revenue Authority offices in Nairobi, where he was questioned over suspect payments.
The ensemble was composed of a cap, sunglasses, shirt and matching sandals. Such a Versace Baroque silk shirt costs 1,395 dollars (Sh144,000).
He has also been photographed wearing a Gucci GG Supreme bucket hat that goes for 650 dollars, about Sh67,500. The governor was also once photographed with Globe-Trotter Riviera 20” carry-on trolley worth 1,950 dollars (Sh200,000).
Globe-Trotter is a British luxury luggage, suitcase and accessory brand.
Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi also has an expensive taste, which seems to lean towards Versace, having been photographed wearing a Versace Baroque silk shirt that costs 1,395 dollars (Sh144,000), as well as a Versace Barocco print shirt that costs 1,036 dollars, which is roughly Sh107,000.
So, compared to these three governors, how does your governor fare in terms of fashion-sense, grooming and partiality to big brands that were made with those with big bucks in mind?

I returned my wife to her parents’ home: Ali Kiba

Tanzanian singer Ali Kiba has come out to admit that his marriage to Kenyan wife Amina Khalef is on the rocks.
Speaking to Tanzanian radio presenter Diva The Bause, the singer said his wife is back in Kenya.
“It is true that my wife and I have issues, which is normal for any couple. I returned her to her parents’ home myself. I wanted her to also go back to work, I then travelled to Europe,” he said.
“She had previously told me she wanted to work because she is very educated. When I returned from Eu- rope, she told me she was good and now I can go visit her at any time.
“I haven’t divorced her yet, but everyone is doing their own thing now. Divorce is not something to be praised or announced to people.”
Kiba said his mother had helped bring them back together.
“Honestly, in the recent past, we had disagreed but my mother solved it. She told us that marriage life needs patience and has a lot of challenges, and the devil doesn’t like people in union,” he said.
Tanzanian gossip pundits said Amina was accused of witchcraft, claims that Ali Kiba rubbished.
“It’s not true what they said that Amina doesn’t like people. There are other things that made me really up- set that my wife is using witchcraft on my son Sameer. That shocked me. When you talk about other people’s marriage like that, then you can easily be struck by thunder because that is like destroying the marriage,” he said.
“Haters think that they are not going to bring me down. I will not live a life of social media. I don’t like getting into people’s lives. What if whatever these haters are saying really destroys my marriage? It doesn’t look good.”
The ‘Mapenzi Yanarun Dunia’ hitmaker went on to say that he is allowed to have more wives.
“When my wife disappoints me and I decide to leave her, it’s normal. As a Muslim, I’m allowed to marry even four of them. If I say I will leave my wife today, tomorrow I’m getting married. I don’t like people to come between me and my wife. Like right now, people are speaking ill of her for no reason,” he said.
“I want people to know I’m not a publicity stunt person and I have never acted my life. Also, my baby mama and I have nothing going on apart from co-parenting. I respect her as the mother of my child. When I married Amina, she congratulated me and she has since never stepped into my home.”

Man stands for six hours on flight to let wife sleep

Romance and love aren’t about flowers and grand gestures.

For some couples, it’s about standing for the entire duration of a six-hour flight so your wife can use the row of seats to get some sleep.

One woman recently witnessed this while on board a plane and shared a photo of the man’s selfless act.
Screen Shot 2019-09-07 at 10.06.47 PM.png

Not everyone was ok with it though. And for every person who agreed it was a lovely thing to do, another person would either scoff or be cynical.

“If that is love then I rather be lonely,” commented one man.

“That’s not love, his wife is selfish and he is weak,” fumed another.

And, of course, there was a reference to the most famous broken door in cinematic history, with one woman commenting:

“Sounds like that Rose and Jack situation from titanic. So silly.’

Someone else even suggested the picture had been taken out of context, writing: “Lie. They don’t let you stand in the aisle for 5 minutes, let alone 6 hours. Come on man.”

But as one person pointed out, there could be more to the story than we realise.

Perhaps the lady in the photo had been unwell and was in need of some rest?

Maybe her husband was in the dog house over something?

Either way, as lovely as this is, we’re not sure we’d stand for six hours!

See Ciku Muiruri of Busted! lovely message to daughter as she returns from studies abroad

BY Ciku Muiruri,

My daughter returns home today from her studies abroad, ready to face the next phase of her life. I remember when I first held her, it was a Tuesday at 7:30 am and I could finally smile. I haven’t stopped smiling since. 😊 Through first steps, first words, endless questions and debates, musings, hugs, tears, laughter, the occasional fights, the philosophical banter, the insecurities, the hurts, the joys, the lows, the mediums, the highs. There have been medals, titles and awesome achievements. There have also been obstacles, struggles and pain. We have treaded water and swam together, always there if the other was drowning. She is my life guard, my ally, my friend and I’m so very, very proud of her 🙌🏾 As we were navigating the ocean, we are thankful that God kept an eye on the weather. During the storms He would say “Be still and know that I am God.”
Welcome home my love! Enjoy the shore

I’m well, will decide on Tokyo Olympics soon, Rudisha assures

Olympic 800 metres champion David Rudisha has for the first time come out tospeak to journalists since being involved in a road accident along the Keroka- Kilgoris road last Sunday, assuring his fans that he is well.
The 800m world record holder said he is doing well since the accident that saw his Toyota SUV written off.
Rudisha was speaking in Eldoret yesterday during Kenya’s marathon team’s naming ahead of the 2019 IAAF World Championships to be held from September 28 to October 6 in Doha, Qatar.
Rudisha also thanked Kenyans who called him to wish him a quick recovery after the accident.
“I thank my fans and friends who called me after I was involved in a road accident last week. Many people wanted to know if I was well and I thank God because I came out of the vehicle with only slight injuries. I’m now well,” said Rudisha, who was rushed to the hospital after the accident and was given a clean bill of health by doctors before being discharged.
At the same time, Rudisha refused to rule himself out of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, saying he will soon resume training after two years out with an injury, then make up his mind.
Resume training soon
“I had a nagging injury but I will resume training soon, then make up my mind whether or not to defend the title I won in Rio de Janeiro in 2016,” said the athlete.
Rudisha said he has been attending gym sessions, and his body was responding well.
“I’m looking forward to competing again, but I’m aware there are upcoming athletes who are doing well in 800 metres.
“Age is also another factor I have to consider, but I will still work hard to get back to the track,” he said.
Rudisha was happy that in his absence, upcoming athletes have stepped up to represent Kenya well in the twolap race despite a stiff competition globally.
“In my absence, other upcoming athletes have been doing well. I admire their hard work because they have represented the country well in the race,” he said. Rudisha asked the 800 metres athletes who will be named in Team Kenya to work extra hard to deliver the medals in Doha.
Kenya’s 800m team will be named during trials that will be held on September 12 an 13 at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.
Already, the men’s 10,000m athletes have been selected. They are World Under-20 Championships 10,000m champion Rhonex Kipruto, Rodgers Kwemoi and Alex Oloitptip.
Women’s 10,000m team has 2017 world 5,000m champion Hellen Obiri, 2017 world 10,000m bronze medalist Agnes Tirop and Rosemary Wanjiru.

We argue in front of the children: Eric Wainaina

Eric Wainaina and Sheba Hirst have been together for 21 years and married about 10 now. They have two children together. And theirs is what you would call a modern marriage.

“I do not believe in gender-specific domestic roles. I don’t imagine that it is my wife’s job to wake up and make breakfast. Between my wife and I, we will make breakfast for the kids, get them showered and dressed, do their hair and send them off to school. I was raised to do the dishes and cook. My mum was very clear about things like that. Sundays and Decembers were house help-free. So we would have to cook, clean, do the laundry and iron too,” he says.

And that kind of teamwork has brought his family closer.“It helps us bond with the children. They have so much to say, so many interactions they want to share with you – if someone else is getting them ready for school, dropping them off in school, you will miss out on a lot of that,” he says. Even when they were little, Sheba and Eric would take turns to feed them at night.

“I couldn’t just be there and not participate. They even called out for me as often as they called out for their mother.  I have heard men say, ‘Ah, my work was done in bed!’ That’s…not true,” he says with a laugh. And their offspring have also taken up some musical talent from their dad and artistic abilities from their actress and producer mum.

“Seben, who is 13, plays the guitar. She also dabbles on the piano and is always learning songs from YouTube and going to the tutorials to learn how to play them. She sings beautifully. The second born, Neo, is 9. Whenever theme songs from TV shows starts to play, she gets up and dances. That’s how she is. Music is in her blood. Then my boy is also musical too. ” he says.

He is proud of his children, and while his career takes him away from home a lot, he would like them to feel that they come first.  “I would like them to know that I loved them dearly and that I worked to maintain and grow my relationships with them. I never want them to feel like I sacrificed them for my career. At different points we have had to sort of structure ways and means to ensure we keep contact, make sure we are calling the children at a particular time every day, that Sheba and I are in constant contact – it hasn’t affected us too adversely, but I am prepared for what’s going to come next as my career grows,” he says.

ERIC’S MINUTIAE

The biggest lesson from my father is… To never gang up on weaker people and that violence is never a solution. My biggest influence is… Besides my parents and wife, I have always named Mahatma Ghandi as one of my greatest influences. I have read a book of his non-violent revolution, and earlier today I watched the movie.

If he was to make a last wish… With any luck, other than dying in my wife’s arms, I would like to be playing concerts till I die.

I would like the world to remember me as… Someone who tried really hard, who did their best, who did not accept barriers to stop me. I opened doors for myself and for others. I never want to pull anyone down. I have met a lot of people in my life who feel like the only way they can get ahead is by pulling people backwards. That is not my philosophy at all. My parents did not raise me like that.

The one thing I know for sure is that… I know nothing. Coincidentally, I am currently reading Game of Thrones, the first book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series. In it, one character’s most well-known statements to the main character is ‘You know nothing, Jon Snow,’ and every time that is said, I will quip, “You know nothing, Eric Wainaina.

One parenting rule I break is…We argue in front of the children. This I know is contrary to popular advice. We are not averse to having conflict in front of the children. It is important for them to see that you can argue with a person that you love and you don’t have to worry that you are going to lose them,” he says.

“We show conflict but we are also affectionate in front of the children, so they know how to be affectionate and how to argue if we need to argue.”
