He said Yes! CNN’s Richard Quest proposes to lover

The Quest Means Business presenter took to instagram on Monday to share news of how the proposal went down writing, “I asked, and he said “yes””.

The accompanying photo featured the journalist and his lover beaming at the camera.

Trip to Kenya

Quest was recently in Kenya where he spoke about his sexual orientation.

Speaking on Capital FM, Quest said that he is unapologetic for advocating for decriminalization of same-sex marriages.

“I am obviously going to be advancing an agenda that says there should be at least the decriminalization of same sexual activity. It is straight forward, I am not gonna mess around with that one. That is obviously my belief,” he said.

Double standards?

Quest’s visit to Kenya stirred conversation on social media after he attended a church service at the Kiunas’ Jubilee Christian Church, Nairobi. The move elicited mixed reactions with a section of social media users wondering whether Kenyan churches were finally embracing gays.

Kenya Films and Classification Board (KFCB) chair Ezekiel Mutua was also accused of being ‘hypocritical’ and having double standards for seemingly siding with the Kiunas, despite his usually hard-line stance against same sex unions.

“Quest may be gay, but he is a top-notch journalist who can sense newsworthy stories with unique angles,” Mutua wrote.

The journalist was in Nairobi to cover a series of business stories and joined 234 passengers for the inaugural Kenya Airways direct flight from Nairobi to New York on October 28, 2018.

Court upholds law against same sex marriages

On 24 May 2019, the High Court of Kenya declined to decriminalise sections of the Penal Code that make it illegal to have consensual same sex in Kenya

Judges Roselyn Aburili, Chacha Mwita and John Mativo dismissed the case filed by Eric Gitari and a host of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex groups, which sought decriminalisation of sections 162 and 165 of the law.

The judges said that declaring the sections illegal would open the door to unions of persons of the same sex, creating a conflict with article 45(2) of the Constitution.

The article states that marriage is between a man and a woman.

Marrying at an older age becoming a trend across the globe: Report

Couples across the world are waiting for a longer period of time before they get married and thus have a higher likelihood of cohabiting, a new report shows.

The 2019 Global Wedding Report found that marrying at older age is becoming a trend and thus cohabiting is becoming common with couples in U.K, France and Spain having roughly 9 in every ten couples living together before they get married.

According to the report, couples in religious countries like Mexico and Brazil are less likely to cohabit.

The report surveyed 20,000 recently married couples in US, UK, Canada, India, France, Mexico, Italy, Peru, Portugal, Columbia, Chile Argentina, Brazil and Spain.

It is most expensive to hold a wedding the U.S according to the report and lowest in South America.

Even with the advice peddled around on not taking loans to hold a wedding, the report found that a significant number of couples take out a loan or incur a credit card debt to finance their wedding.

Spain and Italy top on the countries where family supports the couple on their wedding costs helping them cover around two-thirds of the expenses.

Planning

According to the report, couples that have been living together before wedding tend to have shorter planning timelines. Columbian couples have the shortest wedding planning timelines- around seven months. US and Canadian couples typically start preparing for the wedding 14 months to, with UK having the longest timeline-15 months.

According to most of the 20,000 couples that were interviewed on the report, when hiring wedding vendors, the couples prioritize photography with an exception to France where catering was the top vendor category hired.

Red flags in weddings that show marriage wont last : Photographers speak

Bride dress and the weather

Brides in the US and Europe still prefer a white dress but many seek to reflect their unique styles by having unique necklines, silhouettes, accessories among others

The weather is the largest determinant when couples are choosing their wedding day, the report says.

“September and October tend to be the peak months for weddings across Europe and North America, while weddings taking place in the southern hemisphere are most popular from October to February,” its states.

“December is the most common month for couples to get engaged throughout many countries. Canada and the U.S. had the largest percentage of engagements occurring in December,”

Interestingly, a wedding in Spain is likely to have an open bar while majority of weddings in the UK have champagne toast but no free-flowing beverages.

Providing a great guest experience is a must-have in many cultures.

In Spain, this might mean serving unexpected drinks like a mojito or including a beer bar, while in Chile guests may be treated to a one-of-a-kind late-night party (la hora loca).

Colombian weddings have the lowest guest count at 90, while India far surpasses all other places with an average of 524 guests.

Parents’ Involvement

The report that polled couples from 14 different countries also reveals that a majority of couples in America seek their parent’s blessings prior to getting engaged.

” For many, this is seen as a kind gesture and sign of respect rather than a true need to secure permission. This is less common in European countries, where couples will make the decision to marry and then share the news with their parents,” states the report released in May 2019.

Further, religious as a default in wedding is declining with U.K being the least religious country  with 70 per cent of its young population saying they have no religious affiliations.

Americans, Indians and Canadians are most likely to marry someone of a different race, ethnicity or religion with 2 in every 10 couples marrying someone of a different religion, race.

I have driven the same car for 7 years: Mwalimu Rachel reveals what it took to build her rental houses- PHOTOS

Mwalimu Rachel has shared the blood, sweat and tears that got her to become a landlord before turning 35.

The NRG radio presenter took to  Instagram to post photos of her just completed three rental units- a studio apartment (bedsitter) and two one bedroom houses.

She revealed that the journey to build the houses had involved her cutting on luxuries and driving the same Toyota Runx for seven years. Toyota Runx is a modest car in the same class as Vitz, Ist and is known to be fuel efficient.

In an interview with True Love recently, Mwalimu Rachel explained how she had to contend with seeing her friends drive good cars while she was still driving her modest car.

In another You tube post she had a few months ago, Mwalimu Rachel  posted a video taking her first ever flight, flying to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. It is clear, the radio presenter had to tighten her belts so as to inject most of the money in building the property.

She said:

Never thought I would ever hold the title: landlady. But life has a way of surprising you! This is one of the 3 units I have. All already booked and tenants moving in end of the month. This is a studio apartment(usiseme bedsitter! Sema studio apartment are we together??😂😂) and I have another 2 one bedrooms.
Why am I sharing this with you at the risk of being labeled a show off? So as to show the STEADY, TEDIOUS journey of LEGIT growth through sacrifice. I have had to learn about investing. And with that comes driving the same Toyota RunX for about 7 years now. That comes with getting more money but maintaining my lifestyle and expenditure. .
To anyone who is a dreamer and sometimes gets discouraged by what you see around you, friends balling out of control and having flashy things(and that’s their life! Usimind!) just stay focused. Start saving mdogo mdogo, create that discipline within you and work hard. And one day, doors will open and opportunities will come. I pray for you to stay grinding and for God to give you the grace to handle the blessings that come your way

Below is the instagram post together with photos of the house.

To carry riders with pet dogs on not? Uber drivers share

BY WANJA KIMANI

Uber drivers have shared their preferences on whether on not they would allow passengers with pets to ride with them.

It all started when one Taxify now Bolt driver shared with his colleagues in a Facebook Forum UBER, TAXIFY AND LITTLE CABS PARTNERS AND DRIVERS KENYA on how a rider had come with a dog and he had to cancel the trip

Marcus Okwonko Major wrote: “Rider amerequest Taxfy go, kufika ako na dogy anaenda kile.teketeke nikafungulia dogy boot.akakataa Eti yeye hubebewa hivyo Kama mtu.i cancelled pap.i told her this is a p.s.v, hata G4s hawabebangi dogy kwa viti.je unaweza beba dogy wewe,”

This sparked a conversation where some said they were graceful enough to carry the dog but that caused problems to the next rider who was allergic to dogs.

Nishai beba mtu akona doggi. Alikua ameishika kwa lap the whole way. Kadogi kapoa hakaangushi manyoya, well trained.
The next rider alikua allergic to dogs. Ride ilikua mbaya kwake sana. Nikapata email ya usafi na rating ikashuka… At times maybe you don’t mind carrying a dog Lakini findu fipasukanga,” wrote George Maina

Some of his colleagues were of the opinion that they would allow in a pet dog since most are well groomed.

Baba Baraka  commented: ” But what’s wrong with the dog staying on the seats? You ought to know these are not your ordinary mutinas (Sic)…. The dogs are well vaccinnated, well groomed and some have gone through obedience classes… I personally go out with my dogs at the back seat… ”

David Nduati said: “My friend as long as it is well kept it’s ok, most of them are well kept.”

Elijah Flexx said: Dogs are better than some slayqueens. I love dogs..

Musau Mw Jo wrote : Duuuuuude! You’re petty!

Maina British: Some dogs are smart that you’ll even admire it being yours.

Those who despise carrying dogs said some of them shed fur which later becomes hard to clean.

Vincent De Paul wrote: Nilibeba one time nikiwa mgeni kwa hii job, kaliacha manyoya kwa kiti ugedhani kalinyolewa

Martin Reuben wrote :Good…ata mmi siwez beba umbwa..

Raphael Maina : Gari niya kubeba dogs ama watu… Watu wakuwe serious.

According to Uber pet policy unless the rider has a service animal, it is the driver who decides whether or not to allow the passenger with the pet to their vehicle.

“We advise passengers to call their drivers after their ride request is accepted to confirm that it’s OK to bring their pets,” States Uber in its policy.

According to Taxify, now Bolt approved assistance animals are allowed on all rides with Bolt as required by law.

“However, permission is still required by the driver. Passengers can travel with approved animal valid in NSW on all Bolt rides,” they state.

Video of pastor Ng’ang’a in the wilderness fasting for 6 days, bathing with soil, leaves Kenyans in stitches

A video of controversial pastor James Ng’ang’a of Neno evangelism in
the wilderness in Isinya Kajiado County fasting for 40 days and 40 nights to pray for Kenya and his court cases has left Kenyans in stitches.

pp

The pastor, who was arrested recently after Linus Kaikai sued him, posted a video wearing a sack and walking aimlessly in the semi arid location, praying for Kenya.

The 57-year-old pastor travelled to the wilderness in Isinya to have prayers, just like Jesus did to attempt to equal or break Jesus Christ record of fasting for 40 days.

In the video, the pastor is seen bathing with soil and walking around while praying. And yes, he took a camera man to document everything which will probably be show on his church’s TV station.

Well, Kenyans thought it was just another stunt from the pastor and nothing to buy.

She ended up studying law which she said was not her passion.

“I am an athlete since my hey days. I have participated in Lewa Marathon. I regret not pursuing my dreams of being an athlete during my school days; because I was a very good runner. But I blame this on peer pressure,” Shollei revealed.

Shollei said female runners were always met with mockery during her youthful years, something which demoralized her.

“During those days, female runners were nicknamed ‘hero-metric’ a phrase picked from a famous Kipchoge Keino advert where he would appear and say ‘hero-metric, definitely a long distance runner’.

‘WANTED TO BE POSH’

“I couldn’t stand the mockery so I quit running because I wanted to be posh. I started doing swimming and tennis.

“These days I regret because had I been an athlete, I would be billionaire right now. I ended up being a lawyer and am yet to make much money as these athletes,” said the former chief registrar of the Judiciary.

Shollei also opened up on her 25 year-old marriage to Sam Shollei.
